Christmas stockings are the ultimate of cherished family heirlooms. I still have the stockings that were handknit for my children years ago by a lady from church.
They do not have to fit anyone and are a beautiful holiday decoration. Each one is different and special.
The pattern that I use is the Cascade Christmas Stocking Pattern.
It is a free pattern found on ravelry and the Cascade yarn website. Through the years I have used charts from different sources but the basics of the stockings are all from that pattern.
Christmas stockings were my first fair isle knitting project and I found a wonderful way to learn that special knitting technique. You may want to read this post from knitpicks which explains how to do fair isle knitting.
All of the knits pictured here have been knit by myself.
Happy Christmas stocking knitting!
