Knitting a Chemo Cap Pattern
Bald is beautiful until it isn’t. For patients undergoing chemo, losing their hair is one of the first side effects in their treatment and can be devastating.
Knitting a chemo cap for someone experiencing this is an act of love.
This pattern is simple. I recommend cotton for a cool, lightweight and soft hat.
The chemo cap has a rolled brim which can help compensate for different sizes. Depending on how much hair loss there is, the patient may want to roll up the brim more or less to help with fit.

Yarn
1. Sample shown is knit with “I Love This Cotton” by Hobby Lobby in the colorway “Waterlily”
Unfortunately Hobby Lobby has discontinued this print. It is still available on Amazon as of June 2021. I have knit this hat in prints and solids. Any color that you like will work with this hat.
Here are some other choices of yarn that work well for chemo caps:
2. Lion Brand Loops and Threads Cotton Colors
For this next set of chemo caps I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton in 4 different colors: Pink, white, yellow and green. I made up a fair isle pattern as I went along consisting mainly of stripes and hearts.
