Knitting the Three Wishes Baby Blanket Pattern
Freedom * Rejuvenation * Friendship
The Three Wishes Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern invites the question…. what are your three wishes? I picked these three wishes for this baby blanket for a brand new baby boy who is the son of my daughter’s friend from grad school. They spent a lot of time together studying at my kitchen table and I have grown to love her and her extended family as well. I wish for all of them and for all of us the freedom to go where we want without fear of sickness, for society to get back on its feet again and for all of us to be close together in friendship.
The Three Wishes Baby Blanket Pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy
Here is the beginning of my newest Three Wishes Baby Blanket. I am sitting in my favorite knitting spot… at our cabin in the woods on the lake! This view is the best no matter what season, no matter the weather.
For this project I am using Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn. Choose 3 colors of whatever you like, there are no hard and fast rules here!
Because I am making a patriotic themed blanket, I chose these 3 colors:
- Red 40 – 150 yards
- White 10 – 170 yards
- Navy Blue 90 – 150 yards
Another really nice option for this baby blanket is this Plymouth Encore Yarn on Etsy if you want to nab it now. It has a bit of wool in it and is soft, easy to wash and makes the most beautiful blankets.
For this Three Wishes blanket, I decided to break up the stripes by knitting a white stripe every other row. I thought it set off the colors better and made it a little lighter and felt more suitable for a baby. I love to improvise!
Needles
Today I am in the mood to knit with my Chaiogoo 24″ needles size 8 from Etsy. The gauge for this blanket is 18 stitches = 4″. If you knit to gauge, then with the Hobby Lobby yarn you should end up with an approximately 24″ x 28″ stroller sized blanket.
This blanket was for a shower gift so to go along with the blanket I picked out a sweet little book called Three Wishes. I really cannot wait to put this darling gift together for the new mama.
My daughter, being a young mother herself, also picked out a gift box of goodies for the new mama to be. I have a feeling she is going to love this.
I’m so happy with how this little carseat blanket turned out! It’s quite small… 24 x 20, which means it will keep little ones warm in the carseat or stroller. Even in warm weather with A/C, little ones need blankets!
Here are the Etsy products that I am featuring in this post. I really like to support Etsy Sellers and it is my hope that you will too. #StandWithSmall
