Cora’s Crosswise Baby Blanket
This baby diagonal washcloth blanket knitting pattern is basically a gigantic washcloth. I improvised while knitting it so that I would have sections of sparkly pink yarn and plain pink yarn. The final size was 28 x 28.
This blanket has a combination of garter stitch (knit every row) and stockinette stitch (knit RW rows and purl WS rows).
Yarn
For a 28 x 28 square blanket:
2 skeins of Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Cotton” in pink
and 1 skein of the same yarn in pink sparkle:
How much yarn should I buy?
Assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch:
- Stroller: 400 yards for 24 x 24
- Baby: 700 yards for 30 x 30
- Small: 1000 yards for 36 x 36
- Medium: 1300 yards for 42 x 42
- Large: 1600 yards 48 x 48
Another great yarn is from Lion Brand:
TIP → Buy extra yarn so you don’t run out when estimating half a skein, and use the extra to make a hat!
