For size 18-24 months, the circumference is 17″ and the hat is 7″ tall.
Choose 4 colors
With size 6 needles:
CO 60 stitches with Color A
Join in the round and K1,P1 for 10 rows
Change to size 8 needles:
With color B knit 7 rows
With color A knit 7 rows
With color C knit 7 rows
With color A knit 7 rows
With color B knit 7 rows
With color A knit 2 rows
Then: k2tog around
Knit
k2tog around
Knit
Continue until there are 6 stitches left, cut yarn, pull through stitches.
Make a pompom with color C.

Oh how I love knitting hats for little ones! I made this for my grandson using my stash.
What a stashbuster!
I used the super soft and warm Shepard’s Wool Merino Yarn from Etsy’s CeCesWool. This luscious yarn is so soft and feels so good in my hands.
Yummy.
Then I pulled out the set of my favorite circular needles, from Etsy: Knitters Pride Needles Ginger 16″. I love the feel of the warm wood in my hands and the joins are super smooth. I used size 6 and size 8, 16″ needles like these, to start.
