Boston Kid Beanie
I call this knit hat for toddlers the Boston Kid Beanie. I named it after my very own grandson who lives in Boston. This hat has kept him warm for the last few months. I love knitting this hat.
Pick 2 colors of worsted weight yarn, knit the brim, try some stripes and a little bit of colorwork. It’s a great way to learn the fair isle technique on such a small project.
I can crank one out in an evening of TV. That’s a fast way to keep those little ones’ ears warm!

Needles
Knitpicks size 8 needles.
Yarn
For this beanie I found 2 half skeins of Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn” from my stash. When I knit a hat for toddlers I often use acrylic yarn. It doesn’t itch and holds up well.
Another yarn that I really like is Plymouth Encore Yarn. It’s made with a little bit of wool which gives the hat a little oomph and warmth protection.
Pompoms
I decided to make a pompom with the 2 colors from the hat. Doesn’t that look so cute?
I like to make pompoms using this handy little Clover pompom maker. This is a great article on how to make pompoms with the Clover pompom maker.
Faux fur pompoms are inexpensive and look super cute on this hat too!
