The Ocean Waves Lacy Scarf Knitting Pattern

Knitting this beautiful lacy scarf pattern called The Butternut Scarf here on ravelry was a bit challenging for me because it was quite lacy and I really had to pay attention.  But what a beautiful scarf it has turned out to be!  It’s always a great feeling to finish a challenging project.

I used worsted weight yarn called Karabella Aurora 8.  It’s 100% extra fine Merino Wool yarn.  It’s soft and beautiful.

The pattern calls for a cast on of 73 stitches, but because I am using worsted weight yarn instead of the recommended fingering weight, I opted for 59 stitches.

The needle I used for this project is a size 6 needle from an interchangeable set from Knitpicks: Majestic Circular Needles.  I love these needles!  The wood feels warm in my hands and the joins are very smooth.

I just love the way this scarf is turning out!

It took a couple weeks to knit this scarf but it was worth the wait.  After weaving in the ends,  I pulled out my Eucalan, filled the sink with lavender scented bubbles and gave the scarf a bath.

The scarf was only about 8 inches wide while knitting it, but was twice that after blocking.  The final dimensions are 16″ x 42″

I am so happy with how this scarf turned out!

I really enjoyed knitting the Butternut Squash Scarf.  It helped ‘up my game’ with lace and charts.  I am looking forward to wearing it this summer as a shawl and then again in the colder weather as a scarf!

No time now?  Pin for later!
