Here is how I made the Santa Hat Knitting Pattern
Gauge: 4 stitches to the inch.
- Cast on 56 (68, 80) stitches in white.
- Knit front and back of each stitch, still in white.
- Double knit the brim for an inch with white on the outside and red on the inside.
- Separate the stitches and knit the inside lining like a regular hat.
- Knit for 6.5 inches and then decrease by k2tog around, then knit around, k2tog around, knit around until there are a few stitches left on the needle.
- Break the yarn, thread through remaining stitches and tie a knot. Now the lining is done.
Now begin the outside.
- Increase by 4 stitches to 60 (72,84) stitches.
- Knit 5 rows
- Then begin the snowflake pattern….
After the chart is finished, knit 4 rows.
Next row: K10, k2tog* continue around
Next row: K9, k2tog* continue around
Next row: K8, k2tog* continue around
Knit 3 (4,5) rows
Next row: K7, k2tog* continue around
Next row: K6, k2tog* continue around
Next row: K5, k2tog* continue around
Knit 2 (3,4) rows
Next row: K1, K2tog * continue around
Knit 2 (3,3) rows
K2tog around until there are 10 (12, 14) stitches on the needles
Cut yarn, sew through remaining stitches and pull tight. Fasten.
Leave a long strand to help anchor pompom.
