Yarn

I just love the Sweetest Dreams Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern.  I have knit it several times and it is one of my go-to patterns for baby shower gifts.  It is a great stashbuster!  I like to pull out all those half skeins of Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn and use them all up.  Of course I don’t have a problem heading to the yarn store to get more yarn.  Have you tried Lion Brand Basic Stitch Acrylic Yarn? It’s another great blanket yarn that goes in the washer and dryer and just gets softer and softer with time.

I also like to buy my yarn from Knitpicks.  They have a great selection and lots of sales.  Pick out a worsted or Aran weight yarn that is washable.  New parents prefer washable yarn for their baby blankets.  Wait til you see all the beautiful colors this Knitpicks Comfy Worsted Weight yarn comes in!

Needles

My favorite needles are Knitpicks Needle Sets.  For this project I used the Majestic set.  The needles are warm, the joins are smooth and the cords are flexible.  The worsted weight yarn that I like to use calls for a size 8 needle so that is what I chose, with a 24″ cord.  It’s a stroller sized blanket so it’s not very wide, about 22″.

Simple and easy, it has texture and style.  New mommies especially love this squishy and soft baby blanket! This blanket is stroller sized but it is easily adapted to larger sizes.  Simply cast on more stitches and knit it as long as you like. Guidelines are given in the pattern for yarn and sizing.  It is a very easy to understand and versatile pattern.

I’m not gonna lie though… at the end you are going to have some ends to weave in!  There are 2 ways to go about it.  The first is to weave them in as you go along.  Then it doesn’t seem like as big of a job.

But I am not mature enough to do that.  I just cannot wait to join that next color!  So what I like to do is turn on a TV show like the Bachelor where you don’t have to pay a ton of attention and then weave those ends in.  They almost take care of themselves that way.
