The Three Wishes Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern is available on Ravelry and Etsy
Knitting for a baby is a special act of love. I enjoy weaving my best wishes into the blanket as I knit it. Here are my three wishes for this very special boy who is my good friend’s new grandson:
- May you develop a kind and generous heart, and always treat others with respect and compassion.
- May you discover your unique talents and use them to make a positive impact on the world
- May you have a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime
The Three Wishes Baby Blanket is the perfect blend of comfort, convenience and style! This basket weave style blanket is perfect for keeping little ones warm in air-conditioned cars and homes, using three colors of yarn to create a stunning 14-row repeat striping effect. By knitting on the right side and then knitting and purling on the back, this creates a wonderful basketweave style that is interesting, squishy and warm. This pattern offers instructions for five different sizes from stroller to large – so your little ones can enjoy warmth and coziness all year round.

Yarn
Yarn Used:
I Love This Yarn by Hobby Lobby Aran Weight. Using worsted or aran weight yarn and assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch, this blanket uses 3 colors for a total of:
Stroller: 400 yards for 22 x 28
Baby: 700 yards for 28 x 36
Small: 1000 yards for 34 x 40
Medium: 1300 yards for 36 x 46
Large: 1600 yards 42 x 50
For example, if knitting the Baby size, you would choose three colors, and will use approximately 230 yards for each color (700/3).
The specific colors used in the above photo are:
