This Tiny Kisses baby blanket is knit with Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Yarn” in Ivory Metallic
How much yarn should I buy?
Assuming a gauge of 4.5 stitches to the inch:
- Stroller: 400 yards for 22 x 28
- Baby: 700 yards for 28 x 36
- Small: 1000 yards for 34 x 40
- Medium: 1300 yards for 36 x 46
- Large: 1600 yards 42 x 50
Needles
For my blankets I often recommend Knit Picks Needles. These are the Knitpicks: Mosaic Options Interchangeable Circular Needles that I love. For this project I am using size US8 needles.
The question often comes up…. can this blanket be knit with DK or chunky yarn! The answer is YES! Simply use the recommended needle size for the yarn and then cast on more stitches for the DK yarn (go up a size or 2) or fewer stitches for the chunky yarn. The blanket may end up smaller or larger than you expected but what difference does it make? Unlike many knitted goods, baby blankets do not have to ‘fit’!
